As a leader in healthcare design in the region, Pittsburgh-based IKM Incorporated architects has developed a three-part education series designed primarily for healthcare facilities executives, facilities managers, healthcare engineers, and others involved in the ongoing planning, design, development and management of healthcare properties and healthcare campuses.
Entitled the “Ins and Outs of Healthcare Design,” the programs focus on three key areas: campus expansion and renovation; outpatient facilities; and behavioral health design.
Each program combines the knowledge of the IKM staff along with data from the Advisory Board Company and a recent IKM project case study to educate attendees. Learning objectives for each of the programs focus on market and consumer demands, current trends in healthcare design, and the processes that address challenges to create design solutions for each client’s unique set of circumstances.

By offering these education sessions we can share our knowledge with our clients in a way that helps them to make informed decisions about their projects,” said John Schrott, AIA, ACHA, EDAC, president of IKM.
Schrott leads the healthcare practice group at IKM and brings the credentials to the programs that support the learning outcomes. He is a 14-year member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and recently obtained EDAC professional accreditation for evidence-based design.
For groups of 5 or more, IKM will bring these healthcare design education sessions to your facility. The firm is currently hosting Session 2 of 3 in their Pittsburgh offices on Wednesday, February 25, 2015. This session centers on new directions in outpatient facilities, creating a branded design solution. Session 3 will take place at IKM’s office on March 25. Finally, these healthcare design sessions will culminate with an invitation-only fourth event, IKM’s Healthcare Executive Symposium currently being planned for late April. This program will feature expert speakers from The Advisory Board Company a national research, technology and consulting firm representing some of the world’s leading healthcare organizations.
