Due to factors including significant renewed growth in the nuclear service industry, Westinghouse Electric Company chose to relocate its corporate headquarters from the Monroeville area to a new office park development north of Pittsburgh, in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania.
IKM was commissioned to oversee the design of the North American Data Center. The goal of the center was to consolidate 47 computer centers into one state-of-the-art hub in order to achieve operational cost savings.
The center features redundant heating and cooling systems, a dedicated power supply and communications systems as well as back up hardware, enabling it to operate during power outages, water line breaks and similar events. The function of the data center is to manage the environment that provides the corporation connectivity within the US including telecommunications, voice and wide-area network services and technical infrastructure related to the internet, intranet, extranet and the company’s Enterprise Business Solutions. The center also features a call center.
IKM Incorporated was commissioned to design the headquarters complex for the IBEW Local #5, on a parcel of land located at the new South Side Works development in the South Side of Pittsburgh. The organization sought to unite three important, but geographically separated functions into one location, simultaneously providing a showcase for the IBEW technology and craftsmanship.
