Classroom Buildings

The Reading Hospital and Medical Center School of Health Sciences, designed by Pittsburgh-based IKM Incorporated architects, is housed in a new facility on a site near the main hospital campus.  The new three-story, 62,000 square foot building is the home to the Hospital’s School of Nursing and Medical Technology programs.

IKM was commissioned to design a new, 43,500 square foot, Physical Therapy Classroom Building for the Physical Therapy department at Slippery Rock University. Slippery Rock offers one of only three accredited professional (entry level) doctoral programs in the United States.

IKM Incorporated was commissioned to design Founders Hall of Lock Haven University, Clearfield Campus, the first of several structures planned for the new campus site.  This new building was intended to fill the role of the “Old Main” for the campus and was designed to provide a rich environment for the growth of history and tradition for the students of this campus.

The State University of New York’s Cortland Campus was contemplating a major physical upgrade of their existing undergraduate science building. Primary concerns to be addressed included a deteriorating exterior skin that did not meet modern standards for energy efficiency, laboratories and classrooms that no longer supported current teaching pedagogy, a dearth of lecture space, an undersized greenhouse and a mechanical system that had reached the end of its useful life. In addition, a new planetarium to accommodate an existing Zeiss star projector was desired.
