Grove City College Carnegie Alumni Center

Location: Grove City, PA
Completion: 2008
Project Area: 6,200 ft2
Services: Architecture

IKM recently completed the adaptive reuse of the Carnegie Alumni Center on Grove City College’s lower campus. Set on Broad Street and a vital part of the downtown Grove City area, the Carnegie Hall building keeps its overall personality of Early 20th Century architecture while upgrades include an improved welcoming and reception, more administrative office space and a space to showcase the history of the College.

The project consists of a 6,200 square foot addition and renovation to the existing 12,600 square-foot building. The addition serves as a main entry point to the facility and attractively meets all ADA accessibility requirements. It includes an elevator and additional stairway and provides adequate restroom facilities for staff and event needs.

The building consisted of three floors, with office and storage space on the ground and main levels, and an unused third floor that once housed a music and performance auditorium. The main level features a multipurpose reception area and dining space for 120 guests with access to an outdoor terrace. A casual seating area with a fireplace accommodates smaller groups. The third level houses the remainder of the Institutional Advancement Offices, Alumni Relations, and Development in a combination of enclosed offices and partitioned workstations.
