With extensive knowledge of interior design for healthcare spaces, IKM architects understood what the client wanted in terms of a hospitality approach to the design of the rehabilitation unit’s patient rooms. As a renovation of existing space, the units are a mixture of existing inpatient rooms and new rooms designed to meet census demands.
Selected in a design competition, IKM was commissioned to program, plan and design a new Alumni Center for West Virginia University. Two months of intensive effort by members of the Alumni Center Task Force and the design team culminated in a comprehensive program and schematic design.
IKM recently completed the adaptive reuse of the Carnegie Alumni Center on Grove City College’s lower campus. Set on Broad Street and a vital part of the downtown Grove City area, the Carnegie Hall building keeps its overall personality of Early 20th Century architecture while upgrades include an improved welcoming and reception, more administrative office space and a space to showcase the history of the College.
IKM Incorporated was awarded the full service interior design contract for the150,000 SF Alcoa Business Services Center on Pittsburgh’s North Shore. Guests are greeted in each elevator lobby by a warm palette of woods and natural stones trimmed in aluminum and featuring a digital plasma screen monitor Niches for Alcoa artifacts allow for permanent and rotating displays at the South side of the lobby leading to Reception and waiting.
