Academic Library and GME Resident Workroom

To support the launch of its Graduate Medical Education (GME) program, St. Clair Health partnered with IKM to renovate 8,117 square feet within St. Clair Hospital, creating a new academic library and resident workroom. The project establishes a dedicated academic environment within an active hospital, providing residents, physicians, and staff with spaces for learning, collaboration, focused study, and wellness.

IKM designed the resident workroom to include collaborative workstations, on-call rooms, lounge seating, locker and wellness amenities, and flexible meeting space. The adjacent academic library features a classroom, study carrels, focus pods, and gathering areas that encourage interaction between residents, physicians, and medical staff. Together, these spaces support both formal instruction and informal collaboration while accommodating the day-to-day demands of a residency program.
