Manager of Business Development – Cleveland

Our Cleveland location is experiencing rapid growth and is looking for a purposeful Business Development Manager to join in that growth. IKM Architecture is a 110-year-old, award winning architectural design firm with offices in Cleveland, and Pittsburgh. IKM also has on-the-ground presence in Columbus, OH and Tampa, FL.

IKM is focused on the following market sectors: Healthcare, Higher Education, Science & Technology, Workplace, K-12, and Civic/Cultural market opportunities.

MANAGER OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT – CLEVELAND

The primary focus for the Manager of Business Development is to develop new business opportunities in IKM’s defined markets throughout Ohio.  This is to be accomplished by growing the firm’s new client base through a combination of market research and analysis, personal networking, cold calling, trade show participation, participation in industry organizations and events, and other activities as deemed necessary for success. This position is based in Cleveland.  Salary based on experience. Salary range is $85,000-$120,000.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Operational Responsibilities

  • Position reports to the Director of Business Development/Marketing/Communication.
  • Position contributes to and helps to maintain the enterprise-wide CRM database.
  • Maintains existing and new opportunities in our CRM database.
  • Responsible for proper attendance by IKM staff at networking events (as necessary), tradeshows, golf-outings, client events, etc.
  • Works with the Marketing & Communication Coordinator(s) to have effective engagement tools and messaging for initial contact meetings and follow-up meetings, trade shows participation and trade show follow-up, and meetings to introduce IKM thought leaders to new potential clients.
  • Organizes and delivers annual business development training for enterprise-wide staff.

Outreach Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes initiative-taking tradeshow planning and follow-up plans for each tradeshow attended.
  • Develops target list of tradeshows to attend each year.
  • Makes initial contact with potential clients and builds relationship to a point where it can be handed off to an IKM Principal or Associate as the content expert and relationship manager.
  • Assisting in developing business development goals for Associates with the Director of BD/M/C
  • Coaching and mentoring staff to further the development of BD skills.
  • Participation in a board position/committee position in at least one industry/market sector organization
  • Work with principals and associates to establish follow-up planning activities for business development contacts.

Research & Communication Responsibilities

  • Develops and updates strategic plans for the IKM market sectors for the Cleveland Office.  Does this in conjunction with the Ohio Principal, Market Sector Leaders, and the Director of Business Development/Marketing/Communication.
  • Research and identify institutional master plans and potential capital projects, through market analysis and information gathering.
  • Research and identify emerging trends in current market sectors.
  • Participation in IKMs Strategic Initiatives Group(s)

Human Resources Manager – Pittsburgh

Job Summary:
The Human Resources (HR) Manager is responsible for leading and directing all employee-related activities in our four offices in Cleveland, Columbus, Tampa, and Pittsburgh as well as our other remote employees. Responsibilities will include overseeing hiring, interviewing, salary review, employee relations, employee recruitment, onboarding, retention, termination, benefits and leave, performance reviews, performance improvement and corrective action, and policy enforcement.

Duties and Responsibilities: (Included but not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.)

  • Oversees interviews and hiring of qualified applicants for open positions.
  • Participates in recruiting cohort efforts.
  • Leads onboarding efforts including orientation, review of benefits, employee documentation set up, 90-day probationary reviews.
  • Participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Formulates corrective measures related to disciplinary issues.
  • Schedules and runs exit interviews.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Oversees the support program for visa compliance and monitoring for non-US citizens.

  • Monitors compensation structure and benefits comparing to industry norms.
  • Monitors employee performance of title related duties.
  • Monitors firm performance and productivity.

  • Monitors morale.
  • Organizes internal mentorship programs, the Architectural Experience Program (AXP), continuing education programs, summer internship, and co-op internship programs.
  • Provides quarterly reports to principals.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

Construction Administration (CA) Clerk – Pittsburgh

The primary focus for the CA Clerk is to organize and manage the project files associated with review activities during construction administration (CA) for project teams. This involves the distribution of submittal documentation to the correct design professional for review, Monitoring schedules to assure submittals are returned to Construction Manager/General Contractor in the allotted time, and the distribution of other project related files including, but not limited to meeting memorandum.

This position works collectively with the IKM Project Teams (both internal teammates and external consultants) and uses the management software specific to each project (ProCore, eBuilder, etc.). Time management and organizational skills are key success drivers for this position.

This role is a full-time hybrid position working three days in the office and two days remotely.

Operational Responsibilities
– Log in of submittal materials
– Distribution of logged materials to appropriate design professional for review
– Tracking of logged material and prompting completed review to meet return schedule
– Returning reviewed information to the appropriate party via project management software or direct mail as applicable
– Distribution of meeting agenda & meeting memorandum
– Handling of miscellaneous project documentation as needed by project teams

Project Manager – Columbus

IKM Architecture is seeking an enthusiastic Project Manager with 8+ years in the healthcare sector to help support and be a catalyst for IKM’s growth in Columbus, Ohio. The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in leading projects through all phases while building and maintaining relationships with healthcare clients, subconsultants, and stakeholders. This role requires a strong working knowledge of healthcare design and the healthcare industry. The person in this role should be collaborative, detail-oriented, a self-starter, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. This is a corporate leadership track position with metrics for advancement.

The Project Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead projects through all phases of development
  • Drive overall client satisfaction through the effective use of pull planning and other lean process tools
  • Facilitate design sessions and, “Big Room,” workshops with stakeholders to gain consensus on project vision and guiding principles
  • Work with the project team to prepare and present design solutions to design leadership and clients
  • Communicate and coordinate efficiently and effectively with consultants
  • Lead project work plan and schedule development, including fee and budget analysis
  • Be a strong advocate for the Client’s design, financial, and schedule goals for the project
  • Collaborate with marketing on pursuing new opportunities and responding to RFP/RFQs.
  • Establish transparent communication protocols, to ensure well-coordinated documentation of the project
  • Identify and participate in business development activities throughout the region
  • Participate in staff recruitment efforts to build the Columbus office
  • Represent the firm at industry events in Columbus
  • Mentor younger staff within the project team
  • Knowledge of local and regional jurisdictional authority and code requirements (including NFPA, IBC, FGI, and other codes or standards of care)
  • Must possess the ability to apply critical thinking, influencing strategies, and decision-making within a team structure
  • Weekly reporting to the COO

Qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience as a Project Manager
  • Current Architecture registration required
  • Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture is required. Degree must be from an accredited school of architecture
  • Software familiarity with Bluebeam, REVIT, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office 365
