Emerging Professional

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Emerging Professional (Architectural Graduate) to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for recent graduates (0-3 years experience) looking to gain hands-on experience in the architectural field while contributing to innovative projects. The Emerging Professional will work closely with senior architects and project managers, gaining exposure to various aspects of architectural design, project management, and construction processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of architectural designs and presentations using software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Participate in project scheduling and management, ensuring timelines are met and deliverables are on track.
  • Collaborate with team members on construction estimating and budgeting for projects.
  • Utilize Bluebeam for document management and coordination among project stakeholders.

Interior Designer II

IKM Architecture is seeking an Interior Designer with a minimum of six years of experience to join our team in our Cleveland or Columbus, OH office. This position generates architectural concepts for interior projects, including full responsibility for interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating interior design assignments. In addition, this person will provide subject matter expertise on specific components of interior design.

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the design development and documentation of interior environments, including preparation of floor plans and related drawings, with a high degree of independence.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Interior Designer on furniture layouts, specifications, and other project deliverables across all phases of design.
  • Prepare accurate drawings and documents in alignment with project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Support construction administration by conducting site visits, reviewing submittals and installation drawings, and assisting with punch list activities.
  • Provide mentorship to junior interior design staff, offering guidance and oversight in the preparation of project documentation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from a CIDA-accredited institution.
  • 6+ years or more of professional interior design experience
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Licensed professional certification in interior design (e.g., NCIDQ) is preferred.

Manager of Business Development

IKM is looking for a purposeful Business Development Manager to join our Cleveland office. The primary focus for the person in this position is to develop new business opportunities in IKM’s defined markets throughout Ohio. Market sectors include; healthcare, higher education, science and technology, workplace, K-12, and civic and cultural. This is to be accomplished by growing the firm’s new client base through a combination of market research and analysis, personal networking, cold calling, trade show participation, participation in industry organizations and events, and other activities as deemed necessary for success.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Operational Responsibilities

  • Position reports to the Director of Business Development/Marketing/Communication.
  • Position contributes to and helps to maintain the enterprise-wide CRM database.
  • Maintains existing and new opportunities in our CRM database.
  • Responsible for proper attendance by IKM staff at networking events (as necessary), trade shows, golf outings, client events, etc.
  • Works with the Marketing & Communication Coordinator(s) to have effective engagement tools and messaging for initial contact meetings and follow-up meetings, trade show participation and follow-up, and meetings to introduce IKM thought leaders to new potential clients.
  • Organizes and delivers annual business development training for enterprise-wide staff.

Outreach Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes initiative-taking tradeshow planning and follow-up plans for each trade show attended.
  • Develops target list of trade shows to attend each year.
  • Makes initial contact with potential clients and builds relationship to a point where it can be handed off to an IKM Principal or Associate as the content expert and relationship manager.
  • Assisting in developing business development goals for Associates with the Director of BD/M/C
  • Coaching and mentoring staff to further the development of BD skills.
  • Participation in a board position/committee position in at least one industry/market sector organization
  • Work with principals and associates to establish follow-up planning activities for business development contacts.

Research & Communication Responsibilities

  • Develops and updates strategic plans for the IKM market sectors for the Cleveland Office.  Does this in conjunction with the Ohio Principal, Market Sector Leaders, and the Director of Business Development/Marketing/Communication.
  • Research and identify institutional master plans and potential capital projects, through market analysis and information gathering.
  • Research and identify emerging trends in current market sectors.
  • Participation in IKMs Strategic Initiatives Group(s)

Project Manager

IKM Architecture is seeking an enthusiastic Project Manager in the healthcare sector to help support and be a catalyst for IKM’s growth in Pittsburgh, Columbus, and Cleveland. The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in leading projects through all phases while building and maintaining relationships with healthcare clients, subconsultants, and stakeholders. This role requires a strong working knowledge of healthcare design and the healthcare industry. The ideal candidate for this role should be collaborative, detail-oriented, a self-starter, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

The Project Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead projects through all phases of development
  • Drive overall client satisfaction through the effective use of pull planning and other lean process tools
  • Facilitate design sessions and “Big Room” workshops with stakeholders to gain consensus on project vision and guiding principles
  • Work with the project team to prepare and present design solutions to design leadership and clients
  • Communicate and coordinate efficiently and effectively with consultants
  • Lead project work plan and schedule development, including fee and budget analysis
  • Be a strong advocate for the Client’s design, financial, and schedule goals for the project
  • Collaborate with marketing on pursuing new opportunities and responding to RFP/RFQs.
  • Establish transparent communication protocols to ensure well-coordinated documentation of the project
  • Identify and participate in Business Development activities throughout the region
  • Participate in staff recruitment efforts to build the Columbus office
  • Represent the firm at industry events in Columbus
  • Mentor younger staff within the project team
  • Knowledge of local and regional jurisdictional authority and code requirements (including NFPA, IBC, FGI, and other codes or standards of care)

Proposal Coordinator

IKM Architecture is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Proposal Coordinator to support the firm’s pursuit efforts. This role is focused on developing high-quality proposals, qualifications packages, and presentations. The ideal candidate will bring strong writing, editing, and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and collaborate with technical staff, consultants, and leadership teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proposal Development: Coordinate and produce RFQs, RFPs, and related submission materials from kickoff through delivery, ensuring compliance with client requirements and IKM brand standards.
  • Document Analysis & Planning: Review RFQ/RFP documents, create pursuit matrices and schedules, and facilitate kickoff and review meetings to align stakeholders.
  • Content Development: Draft, edit, and format resumes, project sheets, and proposal narratives tailored to pursuit strategy and client priorities.
  • Presentation Support: Develop and format interview and presentation materials; assist with coaching teams to ensure clear, consistent messaging.
  • Research & Strategy: Research clients, projects, and competitors to help shape win themes and pursuit strategies.
  • CRM Management: Maintain and update project data, resumes, and opportunities in the firm’s CRM (Deltek).
  • Quality & Brand Consistency: Ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency across all pursuit deliverables.
  • Marketing Materials: Support creation of collateral such as award submissions, brochures, and event materials (secondary to proposals).

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, English, Business, or related field.
  • APMP Foundation Certification preferred.
  • 3–5+ years of proposal coordination or marketing experience, ideally in the A/E/C industry.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Experience with CRM systems (Deltek Vision/CRM or similar) required.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and projects.
  • Knowledge of the SF330 process is highly valued.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external consultants.
