The St. Clair Hospital’s Oxford Drive Outpatient Center first floor is made up of three specialized suites including a Diagnostic Imaging Center, Physical and Occupational Therapy Center and a Breast Center.
The existing Breast Center is a suite embedded in the main hospital, with little identity of its own. IKM was retained by the Hospital to provide an independent Breast Center dedicated to the diagnostic, treatment and recovery of women with breast disease; that greatly focuses on the patient experience with in the Center.
The Breast Center was designed with the comfort of women in mind. The interior details, like crystal wall sconces, iridescent tile mosaics and a water feature contribute to a spa-like environment so that the patients can have a more relaxed experience. The floor layout and room adjacencies consider ease of circulation for staff while catering to privacy of the patient as they travel from dressing rooms to diagnostic and exam areas.
IKM was retained by St. Clair Hospital to execute this multiphase renovation. Service was never interrupted throughout design and construction. Common design threads tie the center together from an aesthetic perspective while creating separate branding identities for each practice suite. The goal achieved was to create a superior patient experience to support the growing healthcare needs of Pittsburgh’s South Hills residents.
