  • $27M Project Value

IKM was selected in a competitive process to program, plan, and design a new long-term acute care (LTAC) and rehabilitation hospital for a joint venture provider team of The Reading Hospital and Medical Center and Rehab Care.

The Reading Hospital provides comprehensive acute care, post-acute rehabilitation, behavioral, and occupational health services to the people of Berks and adjoining counties. The 800-bed main facility in West Reading consists of a 22-building complex located on a 36-acre suburban campus. Nineteen additional off-campus locations are part of the integrated care delivery model serving the region.

In addition to owning and operating freestanding rehabilitation facilities and long-term acute care hospitals, Rehab Care is a leading provider of physical therapy management services for hospital inpatient rehabilitation and skilled nursing units, outpatient programs, and contract therapy services in conjunction with more than 1,400 hospitals in 42 states.

This $27 million facility provides a 60-bed LTAC unit and a nearly 40-bed rehab unit, along with core support spaces for administration, dietary, pharmacy, laboratory, outpatient rehabilitation, and medical records.

This new specialty hospital is the first of its kind in the region, setting the standard for the level of care in the community.
