AHN West Penn Hospital
Linear Accelerator Replacement
- Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
- Completed April 2015

- $566,300 Project Value
West Penn Hospital of the Allegheny Health Network engaged IKM as the architect of record to design work associated with the replacement of the linear accelerator on the ground floor of West Penn Hospital. The work comprised the treatment room and control area to support a new piece of Elekta equipment.
Through preliminary investigation, the hospital determined that the new installation would require additional shielding, but only at the ceiling location. The walls were adequately shielded for the new equipment. IKM coordinated with the shielding consultant and the structural engineer to present a solution that satisfied the hospital’s and the equipment’s requirements.
