Forbes Regional Hospital Bus Shelter

Forbes Regional Hospital, situated in suburban Pittsburgh, developed a plan for employee recruitment and retention. This plan prioritized providing public transit access to support employees, which was previously nonexistent. The Hospital collaborated with the Pittsburgh Port Authority to extend an existing bus route to the facility. After analyzing several places on campus to determine the best location, a bus stop was created in a prominent spot near the entrance to the Hospital, while establishing a bus route that minimizes impact on other traffic flows. IKM designed a custom structure to shield passengers and pedestrians from the elements year-round. Benches offer a place to sit surrounded by glass walls that allow for visibility, with an attractive roof overhead to protect against rain and snow.
