OhioHealth Canal Winchester Health Center

OhioHealth’s new Canal Winchester Health Center is a $31 million, 42,846-square-foot facility designed to expand access to high-quality, convenient care in one of central Ohio’s fastest-growing communities. Located near Gender Road and Waterloo Street, the three-story health center establishes a visible landmark along the highway, reflecting OhioHealth’s brand with a bold façade and prominent signage.

IKM collaborated with OhioHealth staff and consultants to adapt the prototype design, applying lessons learned from existing facilities to improve functionality and efficiency. The team developed a high-performance exterior that meets both brand and performance standards. To accelerate delivery, design documents were phased for site, core and shell, and interior fit-out, shaving three months from the schedule. Close collaboration with the contractor and owner throughout the design-build process ensured alignment and cost control.

The facility houses a 10,000-square-foot freestanding emergency department with 12 private treatment rooms, advanced imaging (CT, x-ray, ultrasound), a resuscitation suite, and both walk-in and ambulance access. The 32,846-quare-foot medical office building provides primary care, OB/GYN, sports medicine, urology, mammography, and rotating specialty clinics in general surgery, cardiology, and rheumatology.
