UPMC Magee Women’s Health at Lemieux Sport Complex

UPMC opened the Magee Center of Excellence at Lemieux Sport Complex to provide the northern communities of Pittsburgh with access to world class care. IKM renovated almost 13,000 square feet of shell space into a new Women’s Health clinic and imaging suite.

The design of this Magee Women’s Health facility focuses much attention on the comfort and privacy of the patient. The patient population includes both women visiting the Women’s Health clinic who may need to change into a gown to attend their appointments, and athletes receiving a DEXA bone density scan. In order to keep the women’s gowned waiting room private, a separate entrance to the DEXA room was created directly off the outside corridor to allow athletes to enter without passing through the Women’s Health clinic.

The interior design of the clinic utilizes a soft palette to create a more feminine environment within the Lemieux Sports Complex. As the main entrance to the facility is visible from the front atrium of LSC, the design team also took special care to integrate UPMC’s signature purple into the entry as a guiding cue to visitors.
