In 2019, IKM Architecture made a pivotal move by expanding beyond our Pittsburgh headquarters, establishing our first satellite office in Cleveland, OH. This marked a significant chapter in our firm’s century-long history, coming just months before the global pandemic. Despite the challenges of opening a new office during such uncertain times, our Cleveland team quickly became an essential part of IKM’s growth strategy.
By 2021, the Cleveland office was thriving, welcoming project managers, architects, interior designers, and our first graphic designer. This growth solidified IKM’s presence, not just in Cleveland, but across the entire state of Ohio. Our success in Cleveland eventually led to the opening of our second Ohio office in Columbus in 2023, expanding our reach even further.
A key factor in our Cleveland office’s rapid success has been the team’s deep connections to the city’s architecture, design, and arts communities. Their expertise and relationships have allowed us to take on an exciting and diverse portfolio of projects, reflecting the range and depth of IKM’s capabilities.
Notably, the Cleveland office is leading several high-profile projects, including the renovation of Case Western Reserve University’s Nursing Research Building and the historic preservation of the City of Cleveland’s Rockefeller Park Greenhouse. Additionally, the team is working on projects for Kent State University, Cleveland Public Library, Oberlin College, Select Medical, and several confidential financial clients. These projects showcase the diversity of our work, from higher education and healthcare to historic preservation and institutional design.
As IKM continues to grow, the Cleveland office remains a vital part of strengthening our presence throughout Ohio. We look forward to continuing to grow and furthering our impact on the architectural landscape by delivering innovative projects that make a lasting difference in the communities we serve.
