Principal Joel Bernard Announced as Co-Chairman of the AIA-MBA Joint Committee

Architects, General Contractors & Owners Converge to Investigate, Research, & Develop Recommended Construction Practices for the Western Pennsylvania Area 

Pittsburgh, PA – Joel Bernard, AIA, LEED AP, has been appointed to the position of Co-Chairman for the AIA-MBA Joint Committee.

Bernard_sm_colorMr. Bernard is a Principal at IKM Incorporated, an architectural firm that has been providing architecture, planning and interior design services to institutional clients for over 100 years.

“Joel has been an active and enthusiastic member of the AIA-MBA Joint Committee and he is a perfect candidate to be this committee’s Co-Chairman,” said Rob Sklarsky of John Deklewa & Sons, Co-Chairman of the AIA-MBA Joint Committee.  “His knowledge and past experiences in design and construction can be very beneficial to this committee.”

Mr. Bernard is currently a principal architect and partner of IKM Incorporated.  In addition to being an active member of the Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, Mr. Bernard also holds National Council of Architectural Registration Boards(NCARB) certification and is a LEED Accredited Professional.

Mr. Bernard completed his Bachelor of Architecture in 1989 from Boston Architectural Center School of Architecture. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts from Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts.  He became a registered architect in Pennsylvania in 1993 and he is a member of the American Institute of Architects.  Mr. Bernard serves on the City of Pittsburgh Board of Appeals for the Bureau of Building Inspection. He is a member of the Planning and Design Committee for Riverlife Pittsburgh and Chair of the Building and Grounds Committee for The Frick Pittsburgh.
